As much as I love breastfeeding sometimes it sucks and that’s the honest truth.
I was watching a YouTube video the other day and at the end of the video the mom expressed her feelings about breastfeeding. She said that it wasn’t really an enjoyable experience for her and she was worried about the backlash she would get for saying that.
When I scrolled down to the comment section she received all positive comments. It was wonderful to see moms supporting other moms, because we all know that’s not always the case. Anyway her video inspired me to write this post and make a video on this topic.
In my last video I talked about my breastfeeding journey. At the end I discussed how it was hard, but it was so worth it. But is it really worth it for everyone?
Breastfeeding is a lot of work and a huge commitment. While there are many benefits to breastfeeding there are also many cons. In the video below I talk about a few of those cons.
Something that I left out in the video is pumping. I can honestly say I hate pumping. Many moms would agree with me. On top of the fact that good pumps cost a lot of money and it’s not an enjoyable experience. Many moms feel like a cow while pumping, does that sound enjoyable? While some moms have no problem getting milk while pumping, others can pump for hours and only get a few ounces. How discouraging is that?!
Know that I’m not trying to discourage any one from breastfeeding. As I said in the video one of the most important things you need to do is decide whether breastfeeding is for not only your child but also for you.
For me it is the right thing. Me and my son have been breastfeeding for five almost six months and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Yes it’s hard and yes sometimes I need a break. But for me it’s all worth it.
