At one point in my life I was very passionate about my natural hair. In the beginning when I was transitioning I was unsure of what to do with my hair. That is when I discovered the natural hair community on YouTube.

For a while I was in love and I wanted to do what they did. I love the videos. I loved the hair styles. I loved how they helped others. I even made a few videos myself. Though most of them were never actually posted.
For a while I did my hair every week. Making sure to take care of it to the best of my ability. I would try different products and was able to find a hair regime that worked for me.
Then in 2015 I got pregnant. I had horrible fatigue on top of the stress of being in my last semester of college I could no longer take care of my hair like I used to. So I put my hair in Mini-twists and it stayed that way for months. After I finished college I just kept my hair in twist (that were no longer mini).
Fast forward to now and I’m actually doing better when it comes to taking care of my hair. I think doing the tag below actually helped me realize that I need to take better care of my hair.
1. Are you relaxed, transitioning or Natural?
I am Natural.
2. How long Have you been natural?
3.Why did you return back to being natural?
I made the decision to join the army after I finished college (that didn’t happen). I don’t really trust anyone to do my hair and didn’t want to go through the hassle of trying to find a new hairstylist every 3 years.
4.What is your hair length now?
When I made the video my hair was pretty much bra strap length. Now it is just about that. I cut off about an inch, because my hair really needed it.
5.What is your hair length goal?
My goal for my hair is for it to touch my shoulders while it is still curly.
6.What is your hair texture?
My hair texture is mostly 4A and a little bit of 4B. There is also a section of my hair that I am unsure what the texture is.
7.What do you prefer health or length?
I would prefer length. As a mom it is easier for my to just put my hair in twists of a pony tail. If I had shorter hair I might have to style it everyday and I don’t have the time for that.
8.If you could only live with one hair product what would it be?
Cantu Shea Butter Hair Lotion. I love this product my mom got me hooked on it.
9.What is the worst product you’ve ever used?
Shea Moisture Curling Gel Souffle. I did My hair with it once and it got so tangled.
10.What is your “go to” hair style?
I have 2. My go to hairstyles are twists and a pony with twists. In the ponytail one I have twists out, because my son like to pull my hair and he doesn’t actually pull any hair out if he pulls on a whole twist vs. strands.
11.Are you a product junkie?
I used to be when I first started, but since I don’t take care of my hair as well as I used to I’m not anymore.
12.How often do you trim your ends?
I trim my ends about once every 6 months to a year.
13.How often do you use heat?
While I have tried to straighten my hair a few times (and failed) I don’t use heat on my hair at all. I’m to worried about damaging my hair worse than what I already have. Though there is a part of me that really wants to see my hair straight.
14.Do you take supplements?
15.Your favorite oil?
Coconut oil because it can be used for anything, not just hair.
17.How long does it take you on wash day?
Wash day use to take half a day, though when I made the video below it took me a few days to do my hair. Now that I am taking better care of it I only need one day to do it. That’s so much better than it taking a few days. I hope to continue to cut the time down.
18.Worst thing that ever happened to you hair.
The worst thing that has ever happened to my natural hair would either be me not taking care of time like I am now or when I tried to straighten my hair. I think both are equally as bad at this point.
19. Do you dye your hair, if so what color?
Even though I know that there are many people who are against coloring natural hair I do color mine. I color my hair brown, because I can. Since making the video below I did try to dye the brown parts of my hair blue, but that didn’t work.
20.Who do you tag?
Anyone that wants to do this tag can. feel free to link yours below or in the comments on the video.
I made this video back in May and since I’ve been taking better care of my hair. I put it back in twists and wash my hair every 2 weeks. I hope to continue to do better with my hair. As my son gets older it gets easier and easier to find the time to keep my hair healthy.
