As I’ve said before my main goal in life is to help others. One group of people that I want to help is the homeless. If I could switch lives with someone for a day it would be a homeless person and here’s why.
Today’s blog-tember challenge was another hard one for me. It is “If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be? Why?” My first thought was someone rich and famous or maybe just successful. Maybe someone that is considered to be a hero? Maybe my mom or another mother. While all of those are good ideas, I wanted to choose one that would benefit me the most. At this time that would be a homeless person.
We all see them on the streets and at stores. Asking for money and food. Many people look at them and think “I’m thankful I’m not living like that” or I’m grateful for everything that I have.” When I look at them, the first thought that comes to mind is “I wish there were something I could do to help.”
In the future, I would like to create some kind of program that can help those that want to be helped. It’ll give them a place to stay and assist them in finding a job until they can get back on their feet.
I know that many of them will need more help than that, and I want to help them in the best way possible. I’ve never experienced what they’re going through, so I don’t know the best way to help them.
If I could switch lives with someone for a day, it would be a homeless person so that I could get that experience. One day is not equal to the months or years these people have been going through this. But I hope that it would help open my eyes and allow me to find the best route for helping each individual person.
For now, I will have to settle for giving them food and water because it is all I can afford. In the future, I hope to make this dream come true.
